Botox vs. Juvederm

Botox vs. Juvederm

Botox vs. Juvederm | Anti-Aging Injectables | Orlando |Plastic SurgeryFace is the most prominent and conspicuous part of the body in aesthetic terms. Wrinkles and fine lines can show more easily on the face and make a person look older than their real age. For people who wish to avoid cosmetic surgery and yet achieve a rejuvenated and youthful looking face, Botox and Juvederm filler represent two effective and proven anti-aging facial treatments.
Both Botox and Juvederm are FDA approved injectables, and operate on entirely different scientific principles to reduce facial aging. In some cases, both treatments may be used together to achieve more comprehensive aesthetic outcomes. Fiala Aesthetics Medical Spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas Fiala, provides Botox and Juvederm to patients in Orlando, Altamonte Springs, FL, and surrounding communities.

Important Differences

While Botox is a neuromodulator or muscle relaxant, Juvederm is a soft tissue filler to reduce facial wrinkles. Some of the key differences between the two treatments are listed as follows:

Ingredients
The primary ingredient of Botox is botulinum toxin A. This is an extremely powerful biological agent, and a very tiny quantity is enough to cause a muscle to go into a state of prolonged relaxation. It prohibits the communication between the nerve and wrinkle forming muscles when it is injected directly into the muscle. As a result, the overactive muscle relaxes immediately, causing the wrinkle on the surface to gradually diminish or get eliminated entirely.
Juvederm facial filler is based on hyaluronic acid, which is a natural compound in the human body to hold the skin together. This ingredient gets depleted in the body due to aging and other factors. Juvederm injections can be used in targeted areas of the face to replenish hyaluronic acid. Juvederm gel will plump the skin to reduce wrinkles and creases from the face. It will also stimulate collagen production to create more natural looking and sustainable results from within.

Injectable Areas
Under the supervision of experienced plastic surgeon Dr. Fiala, the aesthetic experts at the medical spa will identify the correct targeted areas of treatment with Botox and Juvederm. The med spa receives patients from Orlando, Altamonte Springs, FL, and nearby areas.
Botox is FDA approved for the cosmetic reduction of wrinkles and fine lines between the brows and on the forehead. Two years ago, it was also approved for the reduction of crow’s feet around the eyes. Botox providers have also used the injections for wrinkle reduction in other non-label treatment areas of the face with remarkable results.
Juvederm cosmetic filler, on the other hand, is more appropriate for reduction of moderate to severe facial folds, creases and wrinkles. It can add volume to the thinning areas of the face in order to fill the wrinkles, scars, and depressions. It is also used to augment lips, reduce smile lines, and improve the appearance of the chin or nose.

Durability of Results
Aesthetic outcomes with Botox will generally last for about three to six months. In case of Juvederm filler, the results can sustain for about six months to a year, or even more in some cases.
